Congratulations to Georgia Fancett, whose spine-tingling first novel The Fifth Girl has won this year’s £20,000 Daily Mail First Novel Competition prize, in association with LBA Books and Penguin Random House.
Fancett’s brilliant debut will be published by Penguin Random House, who judged the competition alongside a panel of experts from the Daily Mail and LBA Books, including bestselling authors Fern Britton and Simon Kernick.
The standard of entries for this year’s competition was exceptional, with four runners up earning special commendations from the judges. Those included Isabella Harcourt for her novel The Faceless Descent, Jez Pinfold for his debut The Sins, Jacqueline Rohen for How To Marry Your Husband and Rebecca Williams for In Plain Sight.
