David Gibbins is the bestselling author of eight novels which have sold over three million copies worldwide and are published in thirty languages. His novels are adventure thrillers inspired by his own career as an underwater archaeologist, and include historical fiction reflecting his interests from earliest prehistory and the Roman period to Victorian wars and beyond. After taking a PhD from Cambridge University he taught archaeology as an academic before leaving to write and research full-time. A qualified diver since he was 15, he is a world authority on ancient shipwrecks and has led numerous expeditions around the world to investigate underwater sites. He was born in Canada and brought up there, in New Zealand and in England, and currently divides his time between England and Canada when he is not away on expeditions.
