Dan Farnworth is an ambulance medic based in the north-west of England, and he has worked in the emergency services for fifteen years. He is the founder of Our Blue Light, a campaign to raise awareness of mental health issues in the emergency services, and won the ITV NHS Heroes Award for Mental Health Champion of the Year. Additionally Dan was recognised by the Rt Hon Theresa May with a Point of Light award in 2018.
Through tireless campaigning Dan’s work was noticed by the Royal Foundation, where he went to present his story to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. Following this Dan was involved in the launch of the Heads Together Programme, which has changed lives around the world.
In 2018, Dan was awarded a Winston Churchill Fellowship which enabled him to travel the USA and Canada. Whilst undertaking his fellowship Dan focused on how services enable their frontline staff to cope with the difficult roles they carry out.
